Action - The total amount of money played measured by the sum of all bets placed. Thus, betting a quarter 100 times, would be equivalent to $25.00 in action, or betting $1 for 700 plays adds up to $700 in action. Action does not take into account starting or ending bankroll, or wins or losses -just total $ bets.
Average Payer - A machine that is neither tight, nor loose, but in between.
Bank, Bank of Machines - This is a group of machines connected together in a structure as a design unit.
Bar - A popular symbol on slot machines. This symbol is often found as one bar, two bars, and three bars.
Big Bertha - The gigantic slot machines of many reels, usually eight to ten, that are strategically placed by casinos near their front entrance (usually, but not always) to lure curious players into their casinos for a pull or two.

Playing a slot machine is quite easy, literally no more complicated than putting coins in the machine itself, and either pulling the handle or pressing the "spin reels" button. However, as the machines have become more sophisticated throughout the years, additional features have been added to make playing slots even easier.
Object of the Game
The goal in slots is to get the symbols on the reel to line up directly behind the payline, in one of the winning combinations listed on the front of the machines. The higher ranked the combination, as listed, the greater the payout will be.
For some players, the real goal in slots is to hit the jackpot paying thousands of dollards, tens of thousands, or even millions of dollars on the big progressives. The particular goal at a machine, at least the big goal, is a function of the machines itself. Machines have a variety of jackpot sizes and rewards, but whatever the machine, you'd like to hit the big one.
When playing slots it is very important that you start by reading the rules. The jackpot can be static, progressive, or a combination of both. Depending on the machine you have chosen, you can bet up to 3 or 4 coins on each spin. To win the Progressive Jackpot, you have to play the maximum number of coins each time you spin. You may want to press the "bet max" button in order to play for the maximum amount of coins and the reels will automatically begin to spin. Each game has different pay-outs which are displayed at the front of the machine. Winning combinations are often displayed in the center of the reels as marked by the pay-line.
