Slot Clubs

Slots clubs are a relatively new marketing program that allows players to earn credits for slot and video poker machine play and use those credits to earn a whole range of comps. The programs vary from casino to casino, but almost all of them give you a chance to earn comps for buffets and meals, rooms, shows, and sometimes, even cash rebates.
This innovative program has greatly added to the popularity of the slots and given players more ways to win. Best of all, there is no charge to become a member.
The concept is simple. Once enrolled as a member, the casinos will issue a card with your name and card number. These cards get inserted into the machines prior to play and automatically track your betting action. The more action you give the casino, the greater the benefits you enjoy just for playing the machines. What could be better?
Each casino has their own slots program, some with greater benefits than others. But all are worth joining if you plan to play slots at various casinos, especially if you plan to play a lot of slots.
Joining a Slots Club
To become a member, first you have to register. The Slots Host is usually located in the rear of the casinos, but if you can't find the Slots Host desk, ask any of the personnel to point you in the right direction.
The application process for joining a Slots Club is simple and will take but a few minutes to fill out. The casino will require a valid m to complete the application. Keep in mind that this application is simply a formality - you are not going to get turned down. The casinos have no interest in your credit history or how much money you make. They just want you to play slots in their casino.
The first thing that happens when you sign up for a slots club is that you'll get issued a card. This card identifies you as a player and member of the casino's slots club and allows you to immediately earn credits at the machines. And then you're ready to go. The casinos will have you on file and in the system. Armed with this card, you'll earn rewards credits every time you play.
Just make sure that before you begin playing, you insert the card into the card reader on the machine itself. The card is programmed to identify you as the player and register the action you give the machine. Note that you cannot earn credits if your card is not Iin the machine! Every slot and
video poker machine in the casino will have a card reader for
this purpose. The cards readers are typically found in the front of the machines, though they may be on the sides.
Casinos that really value you as a customer will let you know up front how much action you need to generate for their awards programs to kick in. Some casinos though, keep their rewards programs, for whatever reasons, a mystery. Typically, and again this varies completely from one program to another, approximately one hours' worth of action at the $1 slots or 2-3 hours at the $0.25 machines will kick in the first tier of bonuses and comps.
Faster players may reach these levels a little faster, slower players may take a little longer. The critical element the casinos are looking for is the amount of action and how much money is wagered into the machines, not how long you happen to be sitting in front of a machine warming a chair. The casinos want action. You give it to them, and they'll kick back in with their incentives.
The more coins per hour you play (not how much you win or lose), the faster you will accumulate the points required by a casino to reach activation levels.

1. Reels
The symbols on a slots machine are printed on spinning mechanisms called reels. Typical slot machines contain three reels, though there are also four reel machines and novelty- type slots with as many as eight or ten reels, monster machines often referred to as Big Berthas.
Reels contain 20-24 steps or stops. Each step is a place where the reel can end up when it is spun. This step may contain a symbol, such as a cherry or lemon, or a blank, a step with no symbol, just a blank.
2. Payline
The glass window in front of a slot machine's reels is marked by one or more horizontal or diagonal lines, called pay-lines. Essentially, this is the visual display that shows if you have scored a winning spin or not. Winning combinations must line up directly behind a pay-line to be considered a winner.
When there are three pay-lines on a machine, they will generally be lined up as three horizontals, one in the middle, and one each above and below that middle line.
Usually, it takes one coin for each pay-line to be activated. Thus, on a three pay-line machine, you'll need to play all three coins to activate all three pay-lines, one coin for each line. If you only put in one coin on a three pay-line machine, it will probably count only for the middle pay-line. If you hit a winning combination on the bottom line for example, with only one coin played, it won't be a winner, since a coin for that line wasn't inserted. You would have had to insert three coins.
Slot Machines with five paylines generally add two diagonal paylines so you have five directions that can win. Again, you will typically need the full five coins for all these pay-lines to be active.
